One Word

There are certain words that can change a persons life. There are good words like "raise," "pregnant," and "yes" after a marriage proposal. Then there are the scary words. Yesterday the word was cancer. My mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer and at this point we would be fortunate if it is only breast cancer. She meets with her cancer team tomorrow and in the next few weeks we will find out if there is more cancer and treatment options and so forth. Even though I have known a number of people whose parents, family, and friends have recieved this diagnosis, this still seems surreal, like it isn't something that should be happening to my mother and my family. I guess today's word is "denial." If you would like to follow her journey you can find it at http://the-powerislove.blogspot.com/.

I love your mom and will be thinking of her and praying for her. I wish I could be there to give you a hug and offer words of comfort and wisdom. I can't imagine how scary this must be for your whole family. Know that you are loved.

Wow. Tell her I love her and am thinking about her. On an upside, my friend just finished her rounds of chemo and radiation, is doing very, very well and now her hair is EXTREMELY short, having just grown back in, and looks totally stylish and HOT! Very sleek... ;) Love you, Elizabeth.

Oh Elizabeth, I'm so sorry. Cancer IS a scary word... I've loved studying it-- I can't imagine being diagnosed with it, however. We'll definitely keep your whole family in our prayers. Keep us updated... Sure love ya.
